The Castle

We had a nice family vacation in Florida this year. We were able to spend a few days together at Walt Disney World and had a great time. It had been about ten years since we were last there and things have definitely changed.

Washington DC – Day 2

We had a very nice day today. We attended the Mt Pleasant Congregation in DC. There were about 70 in attendance today and it turns out the speaker’s son is a CO in Pasadena. We were taken to dinner at the Orleans House in Arlington, VA, by the Davis family. This supposedly serves the most prime rib in all of the US, whether that is true or not it was certainly very good (Willie would have liked it!). After dinner John and Judy took us on a tour of the city for the next several hours. John was an excellent tour guide and had an enourmous amount of historical knowledge of the city. In addition he served as an engineer/architect for the city for many years. Later this evening we took a walk back over to the Jefferson Memorial to see it at night and it was quite impressive. Tomorrow, we head over the the Holoucast museum and the to the Smithsonian museums.

Washington DC

Our long awaited trip to DC and NY began today. We arrived at Dulles airport about 4pm this afternoon after a uneventful flight on JetBlue – landing gear worked fine! Our hotel is right downtown and within walking distance to all of the major sights. There was a big book fair that took place today and also a protest march that happened earlier in the day. There were a lot of people in the city and even more policemen. We went for a walk this evening to try to familiarize ourselves with the city. We walked by the White House and the Washington Monument and there were plenty of other people out and about on this warm evening. I should have some pictures up shortly on my Flickr account…so stay tuned!

Last Saturday we spent the afternoon in La Jolla. La Jolla Cove is a very small beach, tucked between adjacent sandstone cliffs. Due to its extraordinary beauty, La Jolla Cove is one of the most photographed beaches in Southern California.

Planning a trip?

June 1st, 2005

If you are planning a trip and want to get the best deal possible through Priceline or Hotwire you may want to consider a visit to either www.betterbidding.com or www.biddingfortravel.com.

Both sites are message boards where Priceline users post their winning and losing bids.

Users post dates of travel, bid histories and the names of the hotels and star classes they got.

Various strategies are suggested and the use of “free rebids” are explained.
